Magenta Harvest are a band from Finland that plays a very melodic form of death metal and this is a review of their 2014 album "Volatile Waters" which was released by Inverse Records.
The album starts out with nature sounds and a few seconds later it goes into a more fast and brutal direction as well as slowing down a bit and adding in growls as well as some melodic vocals and after awhile bass and high pitched screams are added into the music along with blast beats.
As the album progresses melodic and brutal death metal start getting mixed together as well as a dark atmosphere along with solos being brought in later on and they also bring in a mixture of mid paced and fast songs while also only using a small amount of synths which do not over power the music and you can also hear some influences from early 90's Swedish death metal being utilized at times.
Magenta Harvest bring a great amount of variety to their music they can be very heavy and brutal one minute, melodic and modern the next and they also have songs that go back to the early 90's Swedish death metal sound as well as having an atmospheric sound to them at times and they also make every song stand out and sound different from one to another.
Song lyrics cover dark themes, while the production has a very strong, powerful, heavy and professional sound where you can hear all of the musical instruments that are present on this recording.
In my opinion Magenta harvest are a very great sounding mixture of melodic, brutal and old school death metal and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Evil And No Remembrance" "Volatile Waters" "Spiteful Beings To Earth Were Bound" and "Carrion Of Man". 8/5 out of 10.
