Corprophernia are a band from Ontario, Canada that plays a brutal form of slam death metal and this is a review of their 2016 album "Abhorrogenesis" which was released by CDN Records.
Dark sounding synths start off the album before going into more of a heavy and brutal direction along with some growling vocals and blast beats while the mid tempo parts of the music bring in elements of slam and the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with some technical elements.
At times the music brings in a touch of deathcore and some of the riffs utilize melody and the music also has a lot of the Canada style of brutality mixed in with the more modern east coast style and synth effects also make their return at times and when guitar solos and leads are utilized they bring in even more of a technical style to the bands musical sound and all of the musical instruments sound very powerful and there is also a brief use of spoken word samples.
Corprophemia plays a style of death metal that is very brutal and technical while also adding in elements of slam and deathcore while having more of a traditional approach to growls which makes their music stand out a bit more, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover killing, gore, dismemberment and flesh themes.
In my opinion Corprophernia are a very great sounding brutal, slam death metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Coalesce Of the Human Condition" "...And Consumes Us All" "Divine Creation" and "I AM FREE". 8 out of 10.
