Subliminal Fear are a band from Italy that plays a very modern form of melodic death metal with elements of industrial and this is a review of their 2016 album "Escape From Leviathan" which will be released in May by Inverse Records.
Industrial style synths start off the album along with some heavy guitar riffing a few seconds later that also gives the music more of a modern prog metal feeling and after awhile clean singing vocals and high pitched screams are added onto the recording along with some death metal growls and the riffs also use a decent amount of melody.
All of the musical instruments on the recording have a very powerful sound to them and the music also mixes in sci fi elements at times and some of the tracks are long and epic in length and the songs stick to mostly a slow or mid paced musical direction while there is a brief use of fast riffs and blast beats and some songs also bring in a small amount of symphonic elements and they also bring in a cover of Talk Talk's "Living In ANother World" while the remaining tracks are all originals and none of the tracks ever use any guitar solos or leads.
Subliminal Fear plays a musical style that takes a very modern form of melodic death metal and mixes it in with industrial to create a sound of their own, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover a futuristic and apocalyptic vision of the world and society that is also inspired by science fiction movies.
In my opinion Subliminal Fear are a very great sounding modern mixture of melodic death metal and industrial and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band, RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Phantoms Or Drones" "Escape From Leviathan" "Living In Another World" and "Self Proclaimed Gods". 8 out of 10.
