Aephanemer are a band from France that plays a very melodic form of death metal and this is a review of their self released 2016 album "Memento Mori" which will be released in September.
Symphonic sounds start off the album and also mix in with the more heavy and melodic side a few seconds later and the solos and leads also use a great amount of melody while the vocals are mostly high pitched screams and you can also hear all of the musical instruments that are presented on the recording.
A lot of the solos and leads bring in a great amount of classical metal elements while the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and some of the faster sections of the songs bring in a small amount of blast beats and there is also a brief use of acoustic guitars and female vocals that also gives the music more of a folk feeling and they also bring in a brief instrumental before returning back to a heavier direction on the following tracks and they close the album with a heavier instrumental which is also very long and epic in length.
Apehanemer plays a style of melodic death metal that also have its symphonic moments and also brings in a more Finnish influenced sound, t he production sounds very professional for being a self released recording while the lyrics cover dark and mythological themes.
In my opinion Apehanemer are a very great sounding melodic death metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Sisyphus Bliss" "Ghosts" "The Call Of The Wild" and "Gilgamesh". 8 out of 10.
