The band is currently working hard in the studio, due to the separation of our guitar players Guy and Elad, we had to find a new players in a short time and now we are working again on the songs from the album and also some new tunes for our release show of "Fragile Reality" and also for the next shows that will come after that.
2.You got your first album coming out in July, how would you describe the musical sound that is presented on the recording?
Well the band is influenced by the Swedish melodic scene, bands like 'In flames' or 'At the gates', but we also tried to add some new sounds that will make the album more interesting.
In the end result , the album turn out to be really "classic" melodic death metal album , with fast riffs, melodic choruses and some quiet parts that will remind people of the old melodic death albums that we all loved.
We also tried to add some new moderns sound , that can be heard during the songs in the guitar or drum parts and also in the production and mixing parts.
3.The band has been around since 2011 but waited until 2016 to release an album, can you tell us a little bit more about the first 5 years?
So yes, we've been sort of active since late 2011 but during those 5 first years we had to deal with allot of line up changes inside the band.
I think that until our first gig that happened in late 2012 if I remember correct, we had to part ways with 3-5 members , and that problem really delayed the band progress..
But since the first gig , we had a strong line up and we worked really hard on performing in every occasion that was presented to us , including our top gigs until now, with Children of Bodom and also in the same festival with Dark Tranquiility .
After the show with Children of bodom in 2014 , we decided that it's time to record our first album .
4.What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the band explores with the music?
Most of the lyrics in the album are talking about some struggles that we have as a human beings.
Relationship problem , or some other difficulties that we need to deal in our lifes..that is why we chose the album title to be "Fragile Reality" , it may be "banal" title , but I do think that it summaries the songs in the album in just 2 words.
5.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'Nothing Lies Beyond'?
It's a little bit funny, but our name "Nothing Lies Beyond" was chosen by mistake.
It was really in the early days of the band, we had only 3-4 songs that we worked on , and in the time, the band music genre was really different , we played more alternative rock songs and covers..
So, back in the day , we had a quiet song with no distortion parts, and we couldn’t find any singer that matched our genre..so we decided to let the guitar player be the temporary singer just for this quiet song..
And we played it for some time ( during this period, we chose the name "Hemera" to be the band's name, but later of we saw that there is a band with this name) and in one of the rehearsals, someone just said that there is a cool lyric part in this song that went like "…. And nothing lies beyond" .. and we all sat for a minute after that and realized that "Nothing Lies Beyond" is a really cool band name and it sounds great, so we had a little vote and chose together to be "Nothing Lies Beyond".
6.What are some of the best shows that the band has played so far and also how would you describe your stage performance?
I think that the top shows that we had until now were the gig that we were the opening act for Children of Bodom, it was the biggest show that we played until now, with 500-600 fans if I remember correctly , and it’s a memory that we will always remember.
There was also the "Metalfest" in Israel , when we were the opening act for big bands from Israel like " Desert" , "Salem" and of course the mighty "Dark Tranquillity".
And I think that beside those shows that were in a massive scale, we really enjoyed playing in a local production that we arranged and had an amazing crowd with us.
As far as our stage performance, we are trying to give everything on stage, so the crowd could enjoy with us.
7.Do you have any touring or show plans once the album is released?
After the album will be released , we are planning to make a big release show that will feature some surprises for our fans.
Beside that , we will arrange some local productions across the country , just to be able to give everybody a chance to hear the music live .
Our goal after the release will be to go on tour in Europe and really to play as much as we can , but I'm guessing it will take some time to make it happen.
8.Currently you are unsigned, are you looking for a label or have received any interest?
We are definitely looking for a stable and a good label that will believe in our music in the same way we are.
We've received a few offers until now but due to the line up changes after the recording and a few other reasons that wasn't depend on us, nothing ended with us signing with another label.
9.On a worldwide level how has the feedback been to your music by fans of melodic death metal?
Well, on a worldwide level , we've received until now only positive feedbacks on the album , it gives us the drive to keep going on and push the album as much as we can and to every place that we possibly can.
As I said before, the album has really melodic parts , breakdowns and fast riffs so I honestly think that we can reach more people from other genres then just the melodic death metal fans.
10.Where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?
I think that due to the fact that we needed to part ways with the two guitar players that recorded the album with us, and to the fact that one of them has written the basic foundations for most of the songs, the music for the next album will be a little bit different.
We will still remain a melodic death metal band and we'll try to keep the elements that we made on the album , but maybe in the next album we will try to discover some new genres to combine in the songs.
11.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?
As I said before, the band's music style is influenced by the melodic death metal scene from Sweden in most of the songs.
I think that the guitar parts are really influenced by bands like "In Flames" (a band that really influence us in their old albums), or sometimes breakdowns in the songs that will remind you some metalcore bands from the modern time..
We are trying to listen to a variety of music genres,in the guitar players case its bands from the death or progressive or even extreme metal genre..
We take a huge inspiration nowadays also from bands like "Lamb of God" or "Heaven shall burn"..so to summarize it, we are trying to be open minded about the music that we hear and also about the music that we write.
12.What are some of your non musical interests?
We actually have a variety of things that we are doing in our free time,
Our bass player Alon enjoys photographing and skateboarding on his free time and our guitar player Tal also occupy himself with 3D graphics and video editing from time to time..
And of course everybody loves video games, we usually organize once a month a "Playstation" tournament and just mess around.
