Coma Cluster Void are an international band with members from Canada, United States and Germany that plays a musical style they describe as being dissonant death math metal and this is a review of their self released 2016 album "Mind Cemeteries" which will be released on August 26th.
A almost silent drone sound starts off the album before getting more powerful along with a brief use of whispers and after the intro the music goes into more of a heavier, brutal and technical direction along with some death metal growls and when t he music speeds up a great amount of blast beats can be heard.
A great amount of prog and math metal elements can be heard throughout the recording while the vocals at times also bring in a touch of hardcore along with a small amount of spoken word parts and all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them and the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts.
Some tracks also bring in a small amount of melody and as the album progresses the music starts getting more avant garde and experimental and there is only a small amount of guitar leads which are also done in a distorted style along with a brief use of solos and one song also brings in out of key clean singing.
Coma Cluster Void plays a musical style t hat is mostly rooted in a technical and brutal style of death metal while also mixing in a lot of avant garde and math rock elements to create something very original, the production sounds very professional for being a self released recording while the lyrics cover dark themes.
In my opinion Coma Cluster Void are a very great sounding avant garde death metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Iron Empress" "Mind Cemeteries" "Everything Is Meant To Kill Us" and "All Bitter Endings". 8 out of 10.
