Aghast! are a band from the United Kingdom that has been featured before in this zine and plays a progressive form of death metal with some thrash and grindcore elements while also experimenting with dub step on this recording and this is a review of their 2016 ep "Something Else, Something Rotten" which will be released in October by Abducted Records.
A very hard and heavy sound starts off the album and you can also hear melodies in the riffing at times along with some prog elements and after awhile screaming yet aggressive vocals are added onto the recording and when the music speeds up a decent amount of blast beats can be heard along with some melodic death metal touches.
A great amount of modern thrash elements can be heard quite a bit throughout the recording and the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts while the faster sections of the songs also mix in elements of grindcore and when guitar solos and leads are utilized they stick to more of a melodic style and t here is also a brief use of melodic singing and clean guitars and on the re-mixes they mix their style in with elements of dub step and drum & bass.
Aghast! creates another recording t hat remains true to the modern death/thrash style of previous recordngs while still having grindcore and prog elements and they also expanding on their style by mixing in dub step and drum & bass, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover violent and angry themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Aghast! and if you are a fan of death, thrash metal and electronic music, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "King Bitch" and "Laid Out In Red". 8 out of 10.
