Origin Interview

1. Can you update us with what is going on with Origin these days?


Currently we are gearing up for tours 3 & 4 this year. We are doing a states run & then a euro festival run. After that its to the woodshed to finish writing the next album & be in the studio in Nov. New Cd in the spring.


2. What is the meaning behind the band's name?


Its a word that creates a question. It could be about creation. It could be about the creation of you. Where your from. That's for each listener to interpit on their own.





3. How would you describe the lyrical content of the music?


Sci-fi Horror Creation is Destruction/Destruction is Creation Death Esoteric Misanthropic Psychosis

4. What are some of the best shows that the band has domne so far and what are some of your favorite bands to tour with?


Some great Moments


III cd release show in Harvey Ill where the club got destroyed & the police came because we incited a riot will always be up there!

5. You have been considered one of the innovators of tech death, what is your opinion of the bands that you have helped influence?


News to me. I just play guitar. I guess I hear a little influence ( a very little @ that).
We influence bands???

6. All of your albums have came out on Relapse Records, how would you say the support has been from that record label so far?


Relapse is a good label for undiscovered or new bands.


7. Out off all the albums that you have put out which one are you the most satisfied with?


None. Your only as good as your NEXT album. You learn from all your mistakes & just try to be better for the next cd/.



8. How would you describe the musical progress over the years and what direction do you see the music going into on future releases?


I have always kept me ear on the ground for the "underground" scene as well as some of the more successful bands to know what is the now.
I would say that I have became a better songwriter & its not just about technique. I see alot more twists & turns to the music & more dynamics.



9. Do you have any side projects besides this band, if so who are they and what kind of music do they play?


I am a metalhead. I don't play in any side projects. Origin consumes me.

10. What are some bands or musical styles that have influenced your music and what are you listening to nowadays?

I have been listening to the stuff the started this great music. I have a few new cds every year but its the old stuff that gets my blood boiling.

Beer, Babes & Bench Press!!!
