Pequod are a band from Germany that plays a melodic mixture of death and thrash metal and this is a review of their 2016 ep "False Divinity".
A very heavy and melodic sound starts off the ep along with some blast bats and you can also h ear all of the musical instruments that are present on the recording while most of the vocals are done in a death metal growling style and the music is also perfectly balanced between both modern and old school influences.
A great amount of melodic Swedish influences can be heard quite a bit throughout the recording and the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and screaming vocals can be heard at times and they almost border on black metal and the solos and leads are also done in a very dark melodic fashion and the whole ep also sticks to a very heavy sound from beginning to ending of the recording.
Pequod plays a musical style that takes a Swedish influenced style of melodic death metal and mixes it with thrash and a touch of modern metal to create a style of their own, the production sounds very professional for being a self released recording while the lyrics cover dark and philosophical themes.
In my opinion Pequod are a very great sounding melodic mixture of death and thrash metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "False Divinity" and "Pride Of Creation". 8 out of 10.
