Carnac are a band from Turkey that plays a very progressive and melodic death metal with a touch of black metal and this is a review of their 2016 ep "The Frail Sight" which will be released by February 26th by Sliptrick Records.
A heavy guitar sound starts off the ep along with some growls and screams that have a black metal edge and when the music speeds up a great amount of blast beats can be heard and the riffs also mix in a lot of prog elements and the riffs are also very heavily influenced by melodic death metal.
Throughout the recording you can hear a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and the solos and leads also use you great amount of melody and you can also hear all of the musical instruments that are present on the recording and some songs also be in a small amount of clean playing and the fast riffs also bring in a great amount of tremolo picking.
Carnac plays a musical style that takes prog and melodic death metal and mixes them together with a touch of black metal to create a style of their own, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover death, philosophy and abstract themes.
In my opinion Carnac are a very great sounding mixture of prog and melodic death metal with a touch of black metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Hericide" and "Servant To The Void". 8 out of 10.
