Procreation are a band from the Netherlands that plays death metal with elements of black and thrash metal and this is a review of their 2014 album "Ghostwood" which will be re-issued on February 26, 2016 by Vic Records.
A very fast and brutal death metal sound starts off the album along with a great amount of blast beats and growling vocals as well as some morbid sunding melodies and the music is very heavily rooted in the 90's style of the genre and the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts.
When guitar solos and leads are utilized they give the music more of a melodic style and some songs also bring in a small amount of back up shouts and they also mix in a great amount of thrash influenced guitar riffs while spoken word parts can also be heard at times and all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them and as the album progresses elements of black metal can be heard in some parts of the tracks with the tremolo picking and towards the end they also bring in a brief use of acoustic guitars and the last song is very long and epic in length.
Procreation plays a style of death metal that is very heavily rooted in the 90's while also updating their style with influences from thrash and black metal to create a style of t heir own, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics are a concept based upon the supernatural and darkside.
In my opinion Procreation are a very great sounding old school death metal band with elements of black and thrash metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Killing Culture" "Violent Rays" and "Cant Stop The Bleeding". 8 out of 10.
