Blade Of Horus are a band from Australia that plays a very futuristic, technical and brutal form of death metal with a touch of grind and this is a review of their 2016 album "Monumental Massacre" which was released by Lacerated Enemy Records.
A very dark, science fiction style intro starts off the album before going into a heavier direction that also introduces technical guitar leads onto the recording along with some death metal growls that also get very guttural at times and high pitched screams can also be heard at times while the faster sections use a great amount of blast beats.
Throughout the recording you can hear a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts while the faster sections of the music bring in a very brutal style and there is also a touch of deathcore being brought into the music at times while some songs also bring in more of an atmospheric direction that also utilizes synths and you can also hear prog metal influences in some of the riffing and the middle eastern music sounds also gives the songs more of an original feeling.
Blade Of Horus plays a style of death metal that is very brutal, technical and complex sounding if they would drop the deathcore style vocals they could be one of the best bands of this genre, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover science fiction and mythological themes.
In my opinion Blade Of Horus are a very great sounding brutal, technical death metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Monumental Massacre" "Death Of A Spartan King" and "Return Of The Dark Gods". 8 out of 10.
