Worth Dying For are a band from Quebec, Canada that plays a progressive form of melodic death metal and this is a review of their self released 2015 album "Chimaera".
Classical guitars start off the album giving the music a progressive edge and after a few seconds the music starts getting more aggressive along with some aggressive screaming vocals and death metal growls as well as adding in some symphonic elements and shouting vocals will the songs also use a great amount of melody.
Clean singing can be heard in some parts of t he songs and they give the music an influence of power metal and the solos and leads are also very melodic and technical sounding and you can also hear a lot of more mainstream modern metal influences in the bands musical style and when the music speeds up a small amount of blast beats can be heard.
As the album progresses the songs also start incorporating more prog metal elements and classical guitars also make a return in certain sections of the recording while some songs also bring in a small amount of high pitched screams and there is also a brief use of female vocals on a couple of the tracks and you can also hear the influence of metalcore and nu metal at times
Worth Dying For plays a musical style that takes melodic death, prog and modern metal and mixes them together with some symphonic elements to create a musical style of t heir own, the production sounds very professional for being a self released recording while the lyrics cover dark, real life and mythological themes.
In my opinion Worth Dying For are a very great sounding progressive, melodic death metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "The Ghost Of I" "December" and "The Curse Of The Medusa". 8 out of 10.
