Grill are a band from Australia that plays a mixture of brutal, technical death metal, and deathcore with elements of slam and black metal and this is a review of their self released and self titled 2015 ep.
Movie samples start off the ep and after a minute the music goes into more of a technical death metal direction along with all of the musical instruments having a very powerful sound to them as well as some high pitched screams that also bring elements of black metal onto the recording and when the music speeds up a great amount of blast beats can be heard.
In the mid tempo parts off the music you can hear a great amount of slam death metal and deathcore style breakdowns and the solos and leads are also very melodic and technical sounding while some of the vocals also bring in guttural growls and pig squeal's and the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and some songs also bring in progressive, funk and jazz elements and there is also a brief use of atmospheric sounds while another song adds in a touch of hardcore and thrash.
Grill plays a musical style that is mostly rooted in technical and brutal death metal while also mixing in elements of slam, deathcore , black metal, progressive and jazz music to create a very originally sounding recording, the production sounds very professional for being a self released recording while the lyrics cover science fiction and porn themes.
In my opinion Grill are a very great sounding mixture of technical death metal and deathcore with a touch of slam and black metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Alien Abortion" and "Mutilated Witch Kunt". 8 out of 10.
