1.Can you give us an update on what is going on with the band these days?
Diesear(DS): After we got international deals of our album “Ashes of the Dawn” and successfully released in Asia, Europe and America. Now we are focusing on composing and recording newest album.
2.How would you describe the musical sound of the current music?
DS: “Changing all the time, vary from minute to minute” No matter it’s Pop music or extreme metal are the same.
3.In the beginning you where more of a metalcore influenced death metal band but have evolved mostly into a melodic death metal band, what was the decision behind going into this musical direction?
DS: Actually, we didn’t think too much about the different of genre. We just wanted to play music that we like or maybe because of Diesear influenced a lot by In Flames. That is why a lot of fans thought our first album is based on Melodic Death Metal with some Metalcore elements.
Then we were tired about it soon and wanted to increase more of techniques and melodies. Our musical style evolved to like “Ashes of the Dawn” this album which are the first “Pure Melodic Death Metal” album in our country “Taiwan”.
4.The band has been around since 2007 but so far has only released an ep and 2 full length's, can you tell us a little bit more about the gaps in between releases?
DS: A lot of people are asking about this. When we released “The Inner Sear”. We have some member changes. At same time, we established our label “Meteora Records”. We hope to train the next generation of musical talents and support them to follow their dreams and create a bigger music market. Also, we hope to build up new style for our new album. So it took few years to finish.
5.What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the band explores with the music?
DS: We use metaphor and abstract way to express the bright and dark side of humanity to be coordinated with violent of death metal and sorrowful melody.
6.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'Diesear'?
DS: DIES means day in Latin from “Dies Irae”. Sear means marking.
DIESEAR is a compound word of these two words which means the day of marking.
We hope our music is not only full of aggressiveness of metal music but also interlace with beautiful melody to become Melodic Death Metal and deals that we want to deliver can be marked in fans’ mind and into their memories.
7.What are some of the best shows that the band has played over the years and also how would you describe your stage performance?
DS: We think toured with Children of Bodom is the key to let us learned a lot and growth. Diesear earned a lot of good feedback in every shows.
The most impressive is that we flied across half of world to conquered Tuska Fest. in Finland. It was huge challenge to our psychological and physiological
But we are successfully to show Melodic Death Metal of Diesear as an Asia band in Scandinavia. The funny thing is that we know Melodic Death Metal is from Scandinavia. So it made us felt so exciting when we got affirmative feedback.
8.Do you have any touring or show plans for the future?
Now we are working on our new album. We believe that we will start our tours and not only Asia but also America and Europe soon.
9.Recently Metal Scrap Records re-issued your 2013 album, what are your thoughts on the final product?
We believe that “Ashes of the Dawn” is a really good work and let us approach to international. We look forward to let more people listen to our music.
10.On a worldwide level how has the feedback been to your music by fans of melodic death metal?
At beginning, we earned a lot of good feedback from Japan fans. As time goes on and music spread, now we got more and more feedbacks and supports from Melodic Death Metal fans especially from Europe.
11.When can we expect another full length and also where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?
DS: Next album will be more violent and more emotional melodic lines. Not only on style but also increase techniques. We believe it will be released this year and Worldwide releasing.
12.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your newer music and also what are you listening to nowadays?
DS: We are arranging new album tracks now. But the funny part is that when we are composing, we will try to avoid to listen Melodic Death Metal. We are afraid that might influence our works.
But if you mean before, we think that we did influenced by In Flames and At The Gate.
13.What are some of your non musical interests?
DS: Fine food and alcohols. But recently, some of our members are crazy about fishing.
